NEGOTIATED PURCHASES SUMMARIES BELOW
DTN COMMENTS: Formula totals for last week were mixed, higher in Kansas, but
lower in Texas and Nebraska/Colorado: KS 72,954(+1,004), NE 55,737(-1,825), TX
56,090(-1,241). Total trade volume was mixed, higher in Nebraska/Colorado and
Kansas, but lower in Texas: KS 80,233(+3,893), NE 82,381(+7,555), TX 58,944
(-154). New showlists appear to be mixed, higher in Texas, but lower in Kansas
and Nebraska/Colorado. Bids and asking prices have yet to be established, and
significant trade volume will likely be delayed until late in the second half
of
the week.
Beef cutouts are higher at midday (Choice 390.66 +3.44, Select 381.23 +2.28),
with very light box movement (11.41 lds of choice cuts, 2.75 lds of select
cuts, 0.00 lds of trim, and 7.13 lds of ground). Cattle futures are sharply
lower on both live and feeder contracts, due in part to the inevitable strike
at the Greeley, CO, JBS plant, and outside markets.
