Cattle Complex Plummets Ahead of the Long Weekend

It was an utter mess of a day for the cattle complex as traders let the
market fall sharply lower ahead of the long weekend.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

What a mess of a day it was for the cattle complex. Both the live cattle and
feeder cattle contracts fell sharply as traders were panicked about the news
circulating about New World screwworm. Southern live cattle traded at $233,
which is steady with last week's weighted average and Northern dressed cattle
traded at mostly $365, which is also steady with last week's weighted average.
March corn is up 4 1/2 cents per bushel and March soybean meal is up $0.80. The
Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 83.11 points and the NASDAQ is down 14.63
points.
